Financial Aid and Scholarships
To qualify for financial aid and scholarships, students must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Specialized Scholarship Application. Refer to the Financial Aid website for more information.
Students apply annually for general scholarships by updating their Scholarship Application in the .
Since scholarships are generally awarded in the spring, it is best to complete these steps by December 1st for the following academic year.
Scholarship opportunities are proportional to the number of students who apply. In allocating scholarships, the department prioritizes students based on GPA and the completion of core general courses (year in school is not relevant).
CSSE Scholarships

Department Scholarships
- The Dean’s Merit Scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding psychological science student with a strong GPA who, at a minimum, has completed core general credits.
- The Outstanding Graduating Senior Award is granted to a major graduating that academic year in recognition of overall excellence in coursework, research, and contributions to the department (sponsored by Dr. Rick Miller, ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø Distinguished Alumnus).
- The Outstanding Service Award is granted to a major in recognition of excellence in service contributions to the department, for example in the context of Psi Chi/Psychology Club.
- The Eric Amsel Psychology Award is granted to an upcoming senior major who has shown exemplary leadership, service to the department by participating in departmental groups, and mentoring.
- The Jewell Horvat Memorial Graduate School Application Fee Fund () is meant for Weber State students who are Psychological Science majors applying to graduate school in psychological science, neuroscience, law school, social work, and/or medical school. You may apply for application fee reimbursement for up to 2 applications that add up to no more than $150 total. Applications are reviewed in late-spring semester.
